Some of us in the community might have recently watched An Inconvenient Truth in theatre or DVD, which is now on sale at f.y.e. (For Your Entertainment) and Barnes & Noble at Eastridge. We are struck by the fact that an average American generates about 15,000 pounds of CO2 (carbon dioxide) every year, and how we each have the power to make a difference through everyday choices.

Click here to learn how you can take action against Global Warming. Eastridge has recently made adjustments to be more energy efficient:

  1. We switched to MR1627 energy efficient light bulb for all cart units or Specialty Retail.
  2. We placed our HVAC units on duty schedule, causing one unit to shut off every hour with four units operating to keep staple temperature at the mall.
  3. We set the temperature of the mall steadily between 72 to 75 degrees.
  4. We programmed the parking lot lighting through Energy Management System (EMS) to reduce energy consumption. All lights are automatically turned off during daytime hours. Our lights also have a night light feature, which means only every other light is turned on from 3am to 7am.

Our Operations Team continues to be creative in figuring how we can make changes to daily routines and make a difference.

If you have not seen us for awhile, we invite you to enjoy our pedestrian friendly retail streetscape, featuring Bed Bath & Beyond, Barnes & Noble, Sport Chalet, Chili’s, and coming soon in a month: Macaroni Grill. See for yourself how Eastridge is a great gathering place.

Its great to see people talking and getting excited about saving energy. It helps the environment and it saves retailers money. everybody wins! The company i work for specializes in energy management for retailers. We help retailers put strategies in place to use only the energy they need to deliver the expected customer experience. I love working for them because i can feel good about what I do for a living.
